It’s another victory for the Filipino mathletes for winning out a total of 76 medals and awards in the Pan-Asia Pacific (PAP) International Mathematics Invitation Competition, which was held on July 17, 2021. This year, our math wizards garnered twelve gold, eighteen silver, and twenty-two bronze medals plus twenty-four merit awards. This online math contest, organized by the Hong Kong Gifted Education Association and Macao Mathematics Education Study Association was an individual competition composed of 12 questions requiring short solutions answered in 60 minutes. The heat is on for math competition making the Filipino mathletes to brace themselves as they go for gold in the forthcoming in the 2021 International Mathematics Wizards Challenge (IMWiC) which will be held online in September 2021. Thailand, the host country said that this year, more than four thousand participants from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, India, and Vietnam are expected to participate in the 2nd online IMWiC. Furthermore, the MTG Philippines upon the recommendation of the committee on training and development will field more than two hundred math wizards in the elementary and junior high school divisions respectively in this year IMWiC. The MTG Philippines has prepared a line-up of strong young math aces armed with considerable math skills and strategies to participate in the 2021 International Math Open for Young Achievers scheduled in October 2021. A huge team of 169 math wizards who completed their “In-House” training are now invited to join in this year’s IMOYA and compete with the Asia’s best in mathematics.
