MTG KIDS from NCR and nearby areas get DepED “STUDENTS EXCELLENCE AWARD”

(MTG) aptly referred to last March 14, the day the first Students Excellence Award, or SEA was given by the Department of Education (DepEd) to 576 young numbers aces from over 100 public and private schools in Metro Manila and nearby areas. The medal awarding rites, graced by former DFA Secretary Allan Peter Cayetano, also MTG honorary chairman, and DepEd officials, among others, were held at the Samsung Hall of the SM Aura Premier Mall in BGC, Taguig City. REGION 5 MTG WHIZ KIDS TO BE CONFERRED WITH STUDENT EXCELLENCE AWARD
The country’s finest young mathematics and science wizards will be conferred with the Student Excellence Award by the Department of Education for their celebrated feats and shining achievements in various international mathematics and science competitions in 2018 at Naga Hope Christian School, 9AM, Saturday, March 16, 2019 for Region 5 and nearby areas. This first-ever awarding ceremony dubbed as “A Toast to Student’s Excellence” a fitting appreciation and acclamation for the honor and pride these outstanding achievers have done for our country, is a manifestation of the government’s recognition of the embodiment, dynamism, vibrancy and the winning spirits of our Filipino youths. The following Region 5 and nearby area students are invited to the event for winning in the international Mathematics/Science competitions in 2018:

Filipino Math wizards win 36 awards in Thailand
The Philippines has amassed a total of 22 medals and 14 merit awards from the International Talent Mathematics Competition (ITMC) held at Thammasart University, Bangkok Thailand on February 8-12, 2019. A total of 700 students from different countries joined the competition. Among the participating teams were Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, The 45-member Filipino team selected from grades 2 to 10 wrapped up the competition with 1 silver medal, 21 bronze medals and 14 merit awards. The sole silver medal for the Philippines was a courtesy of Xavier Blue M. Castro, Grade 4 from St. John's Institute. TIMO participants are encouraged to join the 1st batch in-house training
Please be informed that all participants of the 2019 Thailand International Mathematics Olympiad (TIMO) which will be held in Phuket, Thailand on April 5 – 8, 2019, are enjoined to attend the 2019 Young Mathematicians In-House Intensive Training Program at Christian Development Academy in Tagaytay on March 21 – 24, 2019. The MTG Philippines has apportioned slots for the TIMO participants, thus, all are expected to register in the first batch of the in-house training. Those TIMO participants who will not enrol in this year’s in-house training program will get "no contest assignment" to represent the country in any international math contest for S.Y. 2019-20.
